Control Environment

As a subsidiary of Schroders plc, Schroders Private Equity Services ("SPES") is governed globally by group-wide policies that set the framework for a high standard of corporate governance supported by systems and people that are both knowledgeable and competent.

SPES has a dedicated compliance team to ensure adherence to company policies. The compliance team regularly deals with business risk issues, anti-money laundering issues, regulatory issues, and ensures that our procedures are commensurate with current industry best practice. The compliance team also liaises with our UK and US based compliance teams to keep abreast of new developments.

SPES receives additional support from Schroders plc in the form of internal audits, systems reviews and other internal control procedures. Thorough internal audits are conducted annually by trained individuals who review not only the operational side of the business, but also our technology systems. Internal audit recommendations are reviewed and actioned at the board level to ensure a suitable standard of governance.

Once a new client is assumed, control procedures are designed by the service and compliance teams to ensure that the client’s needs and expectations are met. At a minimum, this includes documented procedures and a variety of control systems. Procedures are continually under review as systems and client requirements change.

Through our offices in Bermuda and Guernsey, we operate independently and with minimal administrative layers, which enable us to respond swiftly to our clients’ needs. Ultimately, our clients benefit from a secure control environment with segregation of duties that eliminates single-person dependencies, as well as a flexible operating environment that is able to react promptly to any situation that arises.
