Head of Fixed Income & Multi-Asset

2014 was a mixed bag. Investors were rewarded for “keeping the faith” in fixed income, experienced increased volatility from their equity investments and saw currency movements play an increased role in overall returns. 2015 is just warming up but the challenges for investors will prove many and varied. Among these, the suppression of risk by central banks remains a dominant theme and now the threat of deflation also looms fuelled by a collapse in the oil price. All this against a backdrop of low yields, narrow credit spreads and stretched valuations in the key US equity market. Simon Doyle, Head of Fixed Income and Multi-Asset discusses the key themes impacting markets in 2014 and the challenges ahead for 2015. He also reviews the current positioning of Schroders' multi-asset portfolios.
