In April 2015 the UK government made sweeping changes to pension rules, which gave over-55s unfettered access to their savings and complete control over their pension money.

Before the reforms retirees would feel forced into buying annuity to guarantee income for life. Annuity rates, however, are now close to an all-time low and savers are looking at alternative options to boost their income to help them achieve their retirement goals.
