Schroders Global Emerging Market Equities team changes
Tom Wilson, a fund manager within the Global Emerging Market Equities team, is to become Head of Emerging Market Equities at Schroders. After more than 11 years at Schroders and an investment career spanning four decades Allan Conway, fund manager and Head of the Emerging Market Equities team, has decided to retire later this year.
Prior to becoming a global emerging market fund manager in November 2014, Tom was Head of EMEA Equities, a position he held since 2007. In this role he was responsible for the emerging European portfolios and team. Before this Tom worked as an equity analyst initially on the Global Oils team and then in the EMEA markets. With an investment career spanning 15 years at Schroders, he is a CFA charterholder and has a BA in History from Newcastle University.
Allan will continue in his role as fund manager and head of the team until August 2016. During this time, a comprehensive handover of responsibilities will take place. After this time, Tom will take on leadership of the team and Allan's portfolio management responsibilities. Allan will be available in an advisory capacity on an ongoing basis.
Nicky Richards, Global Head of Equities at Schroders, said:
“At Schroders we have great strength and depth of experience within our Global Emerging Markets Equities team. The senior portfolio managers within the team have worked together within the same investment philosophy and process for more than a decade. Tom’s proven investment track record and leadership skills mean he is the right person for the job.”
Allan Conway, Head of Emerging Market Equities at Schroders, said:
“I am pleased that Tom is taking on responsibility for the team. I believe the key to our success has been a clearly defined philosophy, a robust investment process and a strong team culture. I am confident that this will continue under Tom’s leadership. Together the team will continue to deliver the strong investment performance our clients expect.”
The Emerging Market Equities team is made up of nine fund managers supported by 34 research analysts located across the globe. All members of the team are committed to the investment approach and the objective of the funds will not change.
