What is an ISA?
An Individual Savings Accounts (ISA) is a tax efficient savings account. ISAs were introduced by the Government to encourage more people to save for the future. Investments made in ISAs are not liable for income tax or capital gains tax. Investments can be made in a cash component (maximum £5,340) or a stocks and shares component (maximum £10,680) or a combination of these (maximum £10,680). The favourable tax treatment of ISA may be subject to change in the future.
The value of investments and the income from them may go down as well as up and investors may not get back the amount originally invested.

With Schroders, you can invest up to £10,680 per tax year, in a stocks and shares ISA only - we are unable to offer cash ISAs.

The tax benefits
- No tax paid on the income you receive from your ISA savings and investments.
- No tax paid on capital gains arising on your ISA investments (losses on ISA investments cannot be allowed for Capital Gains Tax purposes against capital gains outside your ISA).
- You can take your money out at any time without losing tax relief.
- You do not have to declare income and capital gains from ISA savings and investments or even tell your HM Revenue and Customs office that you have an ISA.
Although the ISA investment is tax free, the fund itself may have incurred other forms of taxation. The favourable tax treatment of ISAs may not be maintained. Please see the attached Simplified Prospectus for further details. Tax assumptions may change and the value of tax relief will depend upon individual circumstances.
