Challenge
Children and young people with special needs and/or disabilities require specialist facilities and a curriculum tailored to meet their needs to ensure they receive the same learning and social opportunities as other children and young adults.
Investable Solution
The Birtenshaw Group provides specialist education and care to ensure that the people it supports can lead independent and fulfilling lives. Birtenshaw School Bolton is currently fully subscribed, with 60 children with special educational needs and disabilities on the roll.
A £15.3 loan facility from Triodos Bank will enable construction of a new building next door to the existing Bolton school. It will provide state-of-the-art facilities to help children make progress not only with their education, but also with their independence skills. The building will include new classrooms as well as state of the art therapy spaces to support learning, wellbeing and development needs. This will provide an additional 72 classroom places, more than doubling the school’s capacity.
