Schroders Group cookie policy
1. What is a cookie?
Cookies are small files, which are stored on a user’s computer or mobile device when visiting a website. This allows the server to deliver a page tailored to a particular user.
Cookies also perform essential functions, like letting you navigate between pages efficiently, remembering your preferences and generally improving your browsing experience.
Further information on when cookies are used to collect personal information about you is set out below and in our Privacy Policy.
2. What is the difference between first and third-party cookies?
Cookies may be set by the site you are visiting or by another site prior to or during your visit. These are known as first and third party cookies.
First party cookies belong to the website domain that appears in the browser address bar. In our case, this will be www.schroders.com or www.cazenovecapital.com and we may set these cookies when you visit in order to recognise you when you return.
Third-party cookies belong to website domains different from the one shown in the address bar. Some web pages can feature content from third-party domains (such as banner ads). This is why you might sometimes see a Schroders ad on pages you visit after coming to our site. Other sites may also set cookies on your device during a visit to our site. These sites will be an approved partner of ours, such as Google analytics, Facebook and Twitter.
3. What is the difference between session and persistent cookies?
There are two types of cookies which may be placed onto your device during a website visit. These are called session and persistent cookies.
Session cookies are set at the start of a visit and remain active only while that visit continues. They primarily support navigation through the site as they remember which pages you have been on and what interactions you may have had with the site already (e.g. Searching for a particular fund). These cookies are deleted automatically when you close your browser.
Persistent cookies are set during a first visit to a site but will carry an expiry date or time. This cookie will remain on your device until either you clear your cookies or the expiry is reached. They can be used for analytical purposes to track visits over time, for example we could see how many people visited a particular page and then came back to view it again later.
Neither of these types of cookies are used to collect or share personal information.
4. How do I control which cookies are used/set on my devices?
Privacy manager
When you visit the site for the first time, or if you visit after clearing your cookies, you will see our Cookie Policy pop-up.
Schroders web site allows you to selectively accept cookies, based on your preferences, by clicking on "Manage cookies" link in the site disclaimer. When clicking on "Manage cookies" you will be able to select the cookie types you are willing to accept.
Do note that out of the four categories of cookie types, the "Necessary" cannot be switched off as doing so would prevent using the web site effectively. It is worth noting that these cookies do not store any personal information.
5. How can I change settings from within my browser?
Our Privacy Manager is designed to make it easy for you to accept all, selectively accept or reject cookies from this website. This is in addition to the settings of your Internet browser, which you can configure to reject, accept or delete cookies already stored at any time. You can also configure your Internet browser to warn you each time a new cookie is about to be stored on your computer so that you can decide whether to accept or reject it.

6. Cookie categories
There are four cookie categories that we use, based on the International Chamber of Commerce guide to cookie categories:
Necessary
These cookies are essential in order to enable you to move around the website and use its features, such as accessing secure areas of the website. These cookies gather no information about you that could be used for marketing or remembering where you've been on the internet.
This is the only category of cookies you cannot disable, as doing so would prevent the site from working properly. If you are not willing to accept these cookies, even though they do not store any personal information about you, we suggest that you navigate away from our site.
Performance
These cookies collect information about how visitors use a website, for instance which pages visitors go to most often, and if they get error messages from web pages. These cookies don’t collect information that identifies a visitor. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. It is only used to improve how a website works.
You may disable these cookies using our privacy manager, but in doing so will stop us form learning how our website is performing and making relevant improvements to enhance your online experience.
Profiling
These cookies gather information about your browsing habits to help us profiling our users. They remember that you've visited a particular website and share this information with other organisations such as advertisers. If you leave these enabled we will be able to understand which of our products, services and offers may be relevant for you ("user profiling").
If you turn off these cookies you will still see un-targeted ads online which will not be tailored to things that may interest you.
Functionality
These cookies allow the website to remember choices you make (such as your audience type, language or the region you are in) and provide enhanced, more personal features. For example by enabling these cookies we are able to take you to the relevant country and audience content.
The information these cookies collect cannot track your browsing activity on other websites.
Without these cookies, our website cannot remember choices you've previously made or personalise your browsing experience meaning you would have to reset these for every visit.
7. Cookies on our site
Here is a list of cookies by category. Not all cookies will apply to all Scroders sites, some may apply only to Cazenove.
Unless otherwise specified, all our cookies will expire after 1000 days. You can however delete them at any time from your web browser settings by selecting “Delete cookies”, and/or enable deletion of all cookies every time you close the web browser.
