Schroders is pleased to announce that Edward Young has joined as Fund Manager on the Asian Fixed Income team. Edward focuses on Asian and Emerging Markets (EM) credit markets and reports to Angus Hui, Head of Asian and EM Credit. This newly created role will further strengthen Schroders’ strategic capability in credit investing, and deepen the Asian Fixed Income team’s coverage of Asia and the wider EM credit universe.
Based in Hong Kong, Edward assumes his new role in September 2018 with over nine years of industry experience. He holds a joint Executive Master’s in Business Administration from Columbia University, London Business School and University of Hong Kong, and a Master of Engineering degree in Financial Engineering from Cornell University.
Edward joins from HSBC Global Asset Management, where he was a portfolio manager within the Discretionary Portfolio Management team and responsible for EM debt and US credit.
Roy Diao, Head of Asian Fixed Income, commented:
“Schroders has been operating in Asia for over 40 years, and we were one of the earliest asset managers to invest in Asian credit. Over the years we have built a successful franchise and earned the trust of clients. We are delighted to have Edward join our Asian Fixed Income team. He will play an instrumental role in growing our suite of fixed income offerings as we continue to provide outcome-oriented investment solutions to cater to investor needs regionally and globally.”
Angus Hui, Head of Asian and EM Credit, commented:
“Credit is a wide-ranging area, and detailed analysis is required to make sure each investment opportunity stacks up. Edward’s experience in Asian and EM debt markets makes him a valuable addition to our existing capability in credit investing, which was developed upon our solid team of research and investment experts in the Asian corporate universe. By further strengthening this capability, it means we will be better placed to capture an increasingly diverse set of opportunities for our clients, who are looking for credit and income solutions locally, regionally, and globally.”
This hire follows the appointment of Kun Shan to the newly created role of Fund Manager, Asian Fixed Income, in July 2018. Kun is based in Shanghai.
Schroders’ Fixed Income business runs at nine credit investment centres globally with around 100 credit investment professionals, and has over USD133 billion* of assets under management.
