Schroders is pleased to announce that Nick Thompson joined the North American institutional team as an Alternatives Institutional Director, Business Development, based in Denver, Colorado.
In his new role, Mr. Thompson will focus on building Schroders’ ability to directly address client needs and grow the firm’s institutional distribution efforts and diversified product set across the Western US. He will also strengthen Schroders’ North American private assets business as part of the Alternative Sales Unit. Moreover, Mr. Thompson’s alternative investing expertise will assist the institutional team in providing targeted solutions to clients from its private assets platform.
He will report to Allan Duckett, Institutional Director – Head of the West. Harnessing his prior experience and knowledge of the industry, Mr. Thompson will work with the team to elevate Schroders’ alternative strategies and build market capitalization across the asset class.
Schroders’ private assets division manages funds across a range of alternatives, including but not limited to private equity, infrastructure finance, real estate, and securitized credit. Schroders has one of the largest networks of offices for any dedicated asset management firm covering the world's investment markets. Utilizing the comprehensive range of Schroders’ unique and innovative products and services, the private assets division aims to help clients meet their specific investment goals. The team is pleased to announce Nick’s addition to the team, further ensuring the division’s exciting structural development.

About Nick Thompson
Nick joins Schroders in 2021 from Forum Investment Group where he served as Senior Managing Director, Alternative Investments, and was responsible for leading capital raising efforts for an alternative investment manager focused on multifamily residential properties and commercial real estate debt. He worked to build the distribution team and strategy targeting middle-market institutions, regional consultants, family offices, and RIAs.
Previously, he was Head of International Business at Westfield Capital Management where he created and implemented non-US distribution plans and was responsible for business development, client service, and consultant coverage in the Western United States. Outside the US, Mr. Thompson targeted five primary regions in the world including unique objectives for the local institutional and intermediary distribution channels.
Mr. Thompson spent over 10 years as Vice President and Director of US Equity Strategies for Janus Capital Group, where he co-led business management of a multi-billion dollar global equity franchise. He also served as a PIMCO Portfolio Specialist for Allianz Global Investors Distributors where he focused on the US intermediary distribution strategy for fixed income and asset allocation franchises. Nick began his career serving as a Senior Internal Wholesaler for PIMCO Advisors.
Nick has over 20 years of investment experience. He holds his Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from Colgate University.
