Register for our latest webinar: Finding income in changing markets
Market focus has moved quickly with the concerns of 2019 now seemingly in the distant past. Brexit – resolved, Trade Wars – apparently resolved, Central Banks providing liquidity – unquestioned. These risks to global growth have now been replaced by a focus on Iran missile strikes and the coronavirus, and while the market has largely dismissed these issues as noise, we think investors face a difficult landscape ahead given current valuations and an uncertain environment.
We are expecting more volatility as we head further into 2020 with little room for error should the coronavirus or other issues jolt risk assets. With low cash rates persisting the search for income continues to be challenging. This is driving some investors to seek out products that potentially have higher risks at a time when valuations appear stretched.
