Our New York based employees were back in action with the ability to volunteer together in person at Colonel Young Playground in Harlem. Schroders employees spent the day working together in teams to scrape, sand and paint park benches and clean up gardening areas of litter and bring new life to the earth beds around the park.
The event was in conjunction with Partnership for Parks, which supports and champions neighborhood volunteers by giving them the tools they need to advocate and care for their neighborhood parks and green spaces. These parks are the backyards of many New Yorkers where they connect, play, and celebrate life’s moments and it is important to improve them and keep clean.
Marc Brookman, CEO North America was there to participate in the event and was moved by how many employees utilized their volunteer hours and took time away from the office to work together as a team, he said “We are giving back to the community and the city we live in, it is something we talk about everyday and we need to be out here doing the work”.
At Schroders we have always supported our people in their volunteering efforts through a time off volunteer program as well as a generous donation matching program. We continue to ask our employees “How can you make a difference in the world?” and pride ourselves on encouraging giving back for the greater good.
