Schroders, the global investment management firm, has once again been recognised as a signatory to the UK Stewardship Code by the Financial Reporting Council (FRC). Recognition in 2024 reflects Schroders' steadfast dedication to integrating market and societal risks into its investment strategies, alongside active engagement practices, to benefit clients.
The UK Stewardship Code upholds rigorous standards for entities managing investments on behalf of UK savers and pensioners, promoting the responsible allocation, oversight, and management of capital. The Code helps to foster stewardship practices, to create long-term value for clients, leading to sustainable benefits for the economy, environment, and society.
Throughout the past year, Schroders has spearheaded several pivotal stewardship initiatives. Notably, the firm drove a research campaign on governance engagement and shareholder returns, and launched a dedicated Engagement Blueprint for private markets. This follows the launch of the award-winning Schroders Group-wide Engagement Blueprint in 2022. This year, the firm’s Active Ownership Report also details more than 20 engagement case studies across different asset classes and geographies.
Kimberley Lewis, Head of Active Ownership at Schroders, commented:
“Schroders is focused on achieving superior investment outcomes for our clients. To do so, we evaluate a comprehensive range of material risks that could affect the long-term sustainability and value of the assets we manage.
“These active ownership initiatives are propelled by hundreds of our investment, sustainability and dedicated stewardship professionals. We work together in engaging with the companies we invest in, to foster sustainable practices that we believe will continue to deliver robust investment returns.
“We are pleased to have been successful in our UK Stewardship Code application for signatory status in 2024. This is a testament to our commitment to active ownership and using our voice as an investor to influence our holdings.”
Signatories of the UK Stewardship Code are mandated to provide annual reports detailing their stewardship policies, processes, activities and outcomes across a 12-month reporting period.
