Schroders has been ranked in the top five percent of financial services companies in the first Financial System Benchmark, developed by the World Benchmarking Alliance.
Ranking 19th of 395 companies acknowledges Schroders’ growing position as a sustainability leader amongst the world’s most influential financial institutions.
Schroders was recognised specifically in the respecting planetary boundaries measurement area, which considers the actions taken by companies to reduce financed emissions and minimise negative impacts on nature and biodiversity.
Madeleine Cobb, Schroders’ Global Head of Corporate Sustainability, said:
"We have taken great strides to prioritise climate and nature in recent years. Some notable examples of our commitment include being a founding member of the Net Zero Asset Managers initiative and being among the first 20 financial institutions to have our science-based targets validated."
Schroders has also recently published its Engagement Blueprint, joined the Just Transition Challenge, launchedAkaria Natural Capitaland, most recently, published its Plan for Nature.
The Financial System Benchmark has been developed by the World Benchmarking Allianceto assess the most influential financial institutions that have the ability to put the financial system on a more sustainable path.
To determine the rankings, the Financial System Benchmark assessed around 400 financial institutions, including asset owners, asset managers, investment consultants, banks and insurance companies. The assessment tracks how institutions are meeting global sustainability goals, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) and the Paris Agreement targets.
