Schroder’s credit investment process is thematic in nature. By thematic, we mean is we try to identify the themes that are going to drive the profitability of companies and credit in the future. And themes, for example, might be demographic, environmental changes, geopolitics, technology, regulation.

So for instance if we talk about demographics, we know that in most advanced economies, people are getting older, and less younger people are being born today, relative to what it was in history. This for us, offers us opportunities to access interesting sectors and countries that are going to benefit from this development.

So for us today, the themes that are core, are technology, the change in regulation, especially around banking, the importance of environment and social factors, when considering companies that we invest in, as well as the changing developments within the politicisation of both the market as well as in regional areas such as the US, China, and Europe.
