#100000Vaccines – delivering 100,000 vaccines to vulnerable people

Driving progress and improving futures is at the heart of what we want to achieve through Schroders Giving, our charitable giving approach.

Building on the success of our award-winning #CollectiveAction campaign last year which supported those most affected by the pandemic, we launched our second global #CollectiveAction fundraising campaign called #100000Vaccines.

We called on our people and their friends and loved ones around the world to twin their own vaccinations and donate towards our fundraising campaign to help end vaccine inequalities. Every donation made was matched by Schroders to reach 100,000 vaccines.

Where the vaccines are being distributed and who will benefit

The pandemic will not be over anywhere until it is over everywhere…We can get the Covid-19 vaccines to at least 20% of the world’s population by the end of the year.” – UNICEF

UNICEF are on a mission to deliver vaccines to some of the most vulnerable people on our planet through their Vaccination Appeal. They are supporting with the delivery of vaccinations in 92 low to middle income countries eligible for support through the COVAX facility.

As the world’s largest vaccine buyer, with more than 70 years’ experience and are on the ground in more than 190 countries, UNICEF travel to some of the most remote places on earth to deliver nearly two billion doses of life-saving vaccines every year.

Gordon Glick, Deputy Executive Director for Partnerships at the UK Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF UK), said:

“We are incredibly grateful for the support from Schroders and their employees to UNICEF’s COVID-19 Vaccines Appeal. These generous contributions are helping ensure rapid and equitable access of COVID-19 vaccines, irrespective of a country’s wealth.

By supporting UNICEF, Schroders is helping the overall effort to procure and deliver two billion doses of life-saving vaccines for all countries participating in the COVAX Facility, including those already facing humanitarian challenges. To avoid even more dangerous variants from emerging and to prevent millions more from dying of COVID-19, we must urgently vaccinate people everywhere. Together, we can deliver the world’s largest vaccination campaign, in record time, and build a brighter future for the world’s children.”

The initial two billion doses are intended to protect frontline health care and social workers, as well as high risk and vulnerable people.
