Schroders signs Black Talent Charter – enhancing equality of opportunity

Signing means we have pledged to deliver on ambitious targets and measurable data for recruitment, career progression and promotion.

“We believe that diversity of thought is critical to succeeding in modern business and, as a signatory of the Black Talent Charter, we are committed to accelerating that change. Attracting and retaining talented people who can understand and embrace different perspectives ultimately leads to more insightful and innovative perspectives for our clients.”

Johanna Kyrklund, Schroders Group Chief Investment Officer and executive sponsor for the Black Talent Charter

As a signatory of the Race at Work Charter, a participant in the #10000BlackInterns programme and one of the founding members of the CBI’s Change the Race Ratio initiative, listening to the challenges faced by our Black employees is a priority.

“The Black Talent Charter promotes a tried and tested approach to solving the endemic underrepresentation of black professionals in finance. We are excited that Schroders is committed to building on efforts to become a more diverse and inclusive firm for all.”

Schroders Black Professional Network

Our Employee Resource Group, the Schroders Black Professional Network (SBPN) supports the cultivation of diversity and inclusiveness and nurtures the career progression of employees who identify as Black through mentorship, networking and recruitment.

This summer SBPN and Schroders joined forces with our Schroders Giving partner, The Amos Bursary, to run a career carousel for 22 students, giving them insight into our industry and an opportunity to find out about careers at Schroders and beyond. The Amos Bursary work to reduce the opportunity gap for young people of African and Caribbean heritage and we sponsor a number of their students to attend university.

Driving inclusion at Schroders
We actively seek to create a culture where inclusion is a priority across all levels of the business, where creating an inclusive environment is everyone’s responsibility, and where the focus is shifted from unconscious exclusion to conscious inclusion. 84% of our people feel they are treated with fairness and respect and 84% feel that Schroders recognises and values diversity among its employees*.

Hear from our people about how we are continuing to create a more inclusive workplace here at Schroders
