Amy Cho and Garth Taljard are named LGBTGreat Top 100 Executive Allies

Congratulations to Amy Cho, CEO Hong Kong and Head of Distribution, APAC, and Garth Taljard, Global Head of Investment Product and Multi-Asset Management, who have been recognised for their significant contribution to inclusion in the LGBTGreat Top 100 Executives Allies list, for the second year running.

LGBT’s vision for the industry is one which understands, supports and promotes LGBT+ equality and inclusion. The Global Top 100 Executive Ally list spotlights, recognises and celebrates senior executive leaders for their allyship towards minority communities, particularly the LGBT+ community.

Amy and Garth are both senior sponsors of SchOUT, our LGBT+ inclusion network which focuses on education, visibility and intersectionality. They work with members of the committee to organise events, increase awareness and inclusivity and show support for the LGBT+ community.

“With my strong belief in full equality with no self-interest, I feel obliged to make the best use of my senior leadership position to stand up and lead by example as an ally.

“An ally is not a super-hero, but gives support to people to speak for themselves. Naturally, this is the job of a senior leader.” – Amy Cho

“I am proud to work for a company that takes diversity and equality so seriously, and partners with organisations like LGBT Great to make a difference in every way we can. LGBT+ allies provide support and solidarity to members of the LGBT+ community and ensure it has a voice at senior management level.

“This is a role I fulfil passionately here at Schroders. Allies can help support under-represented groups by being visible and using their privilege to ensure everyone is heard and made to feel welcome.” - Garth Taljard

Progressing LGBT+ inclusion through SchOUT

SchOUT was formed by Schroders employees in 2017 and is today one of our 13 Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), inclusive networks which drive change across our business.

This year is no different, and SchOUT have been working hard to achieve their goals. LGBT history month was celebrated in February, with the theme of Unsung Heroes and Intersectionality.

As senior sponsor, Garth hosted a thought-provoking and emotional podcast with tech entrepreneur Zoe Chowney about her trans journey on the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT).

This June, we’re celebrating Pride month, and have updated our logos as an internal and external show of support of the LGBT+ community, and encouraged people to include gender pronouns in their signatures to promote inclusion. We’re eagerly awaiting the results on our application to take part in London Pride, which would be the third time we’ve marched.

SchOUT also continue to champion the steps everyone can take to be an ally. Training has been organised throughout the year with lunch and learn sessions, webinars and podcasts including LGBT 101, Trans and non-binary 101 and How to be an ally.

The groups is also continuing to run fundraising initiatives for a variety of LGBT+ charities as well as actively promoting external events and webinars that support, spread awareness and educate.
