Schroders announces that Greg Cooper will be stepping down as CEO at the end of the year. Chris Durack, currently CEO Schroders Hong Kong, will be returning to Australia to assume the position.

Chris is a capable and experienced leader in the fund management industry. He joined Schroders as Head of Distribution in Australia in 2011 and prior to this he was CEO of NSW State Super Corporation. His leadership skills and industry experience mean he is well suited to the role.

He joins a long serving leadership team including Martin Conlon, Head of Australian Equities having been with the firm for 24 years, Simon Doyle, Head of Multi-asset and Fixed income for 15 years and Murray Coble, Chief Operating Officer for 24 years.

Lieven Debruyne, CEO Asia Pacific, said:

“Our Australian business has been incredibly successful over the last 20 years, to which Greg Cooper has made an invaluable contribution. One of the hallmarks has been the tenure and stability of the senior leadership team of which Greg has been a part for the last 12 years. As Greg leaves the business we are pleased to have an individual of Chris’s strength to succeed Greg. Chris has been a significant part of the success in Australia during his time as Head of Distribution and will ensure continuity and growth of the business into the future.”

Greg Cooper, CEO Australia said:

“I am very proud to have had the opportunity to lead such a high performing business for a long period of time and I am confident that under Chris’ leadership it will go from strength to strength. I am particularly indebted to my colleagues across the Australian business and it’s been a pleasure to work with them so successfully for such a long period of time.”

Chris Durack, CEO Hong Kong said:

”Schroders has benefitted hugely from Greg’s leadership in Australia and I have also greatly valued Greg as a mentor and friend for many years.  I’m looking forward to re-joining my colleagues in the Australian business to continue the focus on delivering the right investment solutions for our clients.

“I have learned so much from my experience working in Asia leading the Hong Kong business and working with such a successful, high quality and committed team. I have no doubt their success will continue.”
