Schroders continues expansion of UK Liability Driven Investment team

Schroders is today announcing that it has continued to expand its Liability Driven Investment (LDI) team in the UK with the appointment of an LDI Portfolio Manager to further support clients’ evolving investment needs.

Lucy Zhang has joined from Aviva Investors and will report into Abhishek Saxena, Schroders Head of LDI Portfolio Management. In this newly-created role, Lucy will be focused on the day-to-day investment management of LDI portfolios on behalf of our clients. This appointment builds on a number of key senior hires Schroders has made across its LDI and broader Portfolio Solutions team since 2020.

Prior to Schroders, Lucy has worked as a Portfolio Manager on UK LDI pension and insurance mandates for the last two years, in addition to previous roles in Financial Performance & Analysis and Capital Reporting teams. Lucy qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ACA) at Deloitte LLP.

Schroders LDI teams consists of Structuring and Execution, Portfolio Management, Solutions Management and Solution Change Management specialists. It is responsible for hedging £41.9 billion of liabilities across 144 clients* on behalf of its UK client base and forms part of the wider Schroders Portfolio Solutions team.

Since 2020, Schroders has been focused on bolstering its LDI team. It has appointed Emil Burciu as an LDI structurer and execution expert, Marcella Murphy as a LDI Solutions Manager and, following an internal promotion, James Taylor also joined as an LDI Solution Change Manager.

Philip Howard, Head of LDI Solutions, commented:

“Schroders LDI team is dedicated to working in partnership with our clients to understand their needs in order to help build and tailor investment and liability hedging solutions.

“The addition of Lucy means that we have strengthened the four key specialist areas of the LDI team over the past 18 months. This will enable us to continue to deliver on existing client obligations, as well as meet future client requirements.”

Schroders Portfolio Solutions team works closely with clients and their advisors to develop tailored investment solutions. It manages £102 billion* in assets across a range of outcome orientated growth, income and LDI portfolios, as well as risk management strategies.

Last month, Schroders also confirmed it had appointed David Thomas as a specialist business development director on its Fiduciary Management team, part of the Solutions division.
