Schroders wins Large Employer of the Year at the FTAdviser Diversity in Finance Awards

The award commends our continued efforts to create a culture where inclusion is a priority across all levels of the business. But don’t just take it from us – 94% of our people are proud to be associated with Schroders; 84% feel they are treated with fairness and respect and 84% feel that Schroders recognises and values diversity among its employees, according to our latest 2021 employee pulse survey results.

Embedding Inclusion and Diversity in everything we do

Our commitment to creating a truly inclusive culture at Schroders is at the centre of our people strategy. Ultimately, our vision is for the diversity of our workforce to reflect the communities of which we are part of.

We want to create a culture where inclusion is a priority across all levels of the business, where creating an inclusive environment is everyone’s responsibility, and where the focus is shifted from unconscious exclusion to conscious inclusion.

The judges were impressed with our array of inclusion and diversity initiatives over the past year, and how we’ve supported our people’s wellbeing during the pandemic:

  • Supported our people through the pandemic, with no furloughs or redundancies due to Covid-19. 88% believe Schroders is interested in their wellbeing; 87% said they had the flexibility needed to balance work and personal responsibilities, 86% felt supported by their line manager.
  • Promoted wellbeing support through our Global Employee Assistance Programme, a confidential support line for employees and their families to use at any time.
  • Raised £4.3 million in our collective charitable response to Covid-19, uniting in #CollectiveAction to provide 93 charities food, medical aid and essentials, to people in 90 countries.
  • Joined leaders of more than 100 firms, charities and universities calling for the UK Prime Minister to work towards a “green” and socially just economic recovery after Covid-19.
  • Leading in advancing gender equality globally, based on the results of the 2021 Bloomberg Gender Equality Index (scoring 73% compared to our industry average of 68%)
  • Established a three-year partnership with IntoUniversity, an educational charity that inspires young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to go to university or achieve a similar personal goal.
  • One of the first signatories and founding partners of Change the Race Ratio, a campaign set up to increase racial and ethnic participation in British businesses
  • Supported the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) Disability Commission, calling the UK Prime Minister to deliver on his promise of a truly transformative National Strategy for Disabled People.
  • Joined the global Valuable 500 Initiative, to address disability inclusion across global businesses.
  • Signed the Global Business Collaboration for Better Workplace Mental Health’s Leadership Pledge, to reinforce its commitment to raising awareness and enabling support for mental health in the workplace.
  • Three of our senior leaders named by LGBT Great in the 2020 Global Top 100 Executive Allies to the LGBTQ+ community
