Schroders' new Headquarters at 1 London Wall Place, London EC2Y 5AU has today been officially opened by Her Majesty The Queen. The visit, hosted by Schroders Chairman Michael Dobson and Group Chief Executive Peter Harrison, included a tour of the new building, taking in the operational and client spaces and visiting the investment team floor.
The Queen met with Schroders' board members including Bruno Schroder and some of our longest-serving employees; and various employee groups including the Armed Forces. Her Majesty was shown items from Schroders archive demonstrating our 200 year history, as well as our latest digital innovations.
The backdrop from the official opening today includes a 20,000 poppy installation to commemorate 100 years since the Armistice. Schroders worked with The Royal British Legion and our local florist to create this art installation, which cascades down the central staircase that joins our employee and client areas.
Our modern headquarters provide an innovative and collaborative working environment for our 2,500 employees based in London. The building has sustainability at its core and is on target to achieve a BREEAM excellence rating, the world’s leading sustainability assessment method for buildings. The building’s development is also steeped in history, incorporating a section of London’s Roman wall and the ruins of the tower of the medieval St Alphage’s Church.
