“Make your clients happy, keep your people happy, and your shareholders will thank you.”
Years with Schroders: 1
Years focused on delivering client satisfaction: 31
Richard Oldfield’s appointment to the role of Group Chief Executive in November 2024 comes at a pivotal point in Schroders 220-year history.
Now overseeing a record £777 billion of client assets globally, Schroders is characterised by its breadth across geography, investment proposition and client type. It is securely established as a top five global investment brand with recognised leadership in innovative asset management technologies and sustainability. It has a demonstrable history of outperformance for clients.
Richard joined Schroders in October 2023 as Chief Financial Officer following an outstanding 30-year career at PwC. Working in several global centres, his focus throughout that time was on financial services clients including leading international banks.
For seven years before his move to Schroders, Richard served as PwC’s Network Vice Chair, a role that made him responsible for every aspect of client service. An intimate knowledge of client businesses, and of what will drive clients’ own success, has defined his career throughout.
An early move as Group Chief Executive was his formation of a new Group Executive Committee to streamline decision-making and implement change at pace.
“My initial priority is to focus on simplification, commercial discipline and flawless execution. We will consider carefully how and where to build on the strong foundations we already have in place, while redoubling efforts to attract and retain talented people, maintain cost discipline, return to EPS growth and deliver shareholder returns – never forgetting the importance of remaining relevant to clients.”
Richard is a Fellow of ICAEW and Trustee of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation. He lives in London with his wife and two children.
