Funding the planet: delivering real-world impact through our charitable partnerships
Cazenove Capital's first year impacts from supporting high-impact initiatives across biodiversity, marine conservation and climate justice through targeted donations.

At Cazenove Capital, our sustainable investment approach extends beyond portfolio construction. Through our Charitable Partnerships, we allocate a portion of our profits each year to supporting targeted interventions in some of the most underfunded yet critical areas of global sustainability – conservation of the ocean, protecting biodiversity and pushing for climate justice.
Our charitable donations are linked to the estimated carbon footprint of investments held within our sustainable funds, creating a direct connection between capital allocation and real-world environmental outcomes. Importantly, all costs associated with this partnership are covered by us, ensuring that client investments continue to work towards their financial and sustainability objectives.
Restoring biodiversity in Uganda with Fauna & Flora
Our partnership with Fauna & Flora focuses on reconnecting fragmented forest landscapes in western Uganda – an essential step in protecting endangered species such as chimpanzees while supporting local communities.
In 2025, the programme delivered tangible progress:
- 40,000 trees planted to restore biodiversity corridors spanning 2,710 hectares
- Improved connectivity between forest reserves, enabling safer wildlife movement
- 115 people trained in beekeeping, providing alternative livelihoods and reducing pressure on land
Beyond environmental restoration, the project addresses the complex relationship between people and nature. By supporting sustainable agriculture, training communities to manage human–wildlife conflict, and improving income resilience, the initiative delivers lasting benefits for both ecosystems and livelihoods.
This integrated approach, combining conservation with economic empowerment, is critical to ensuring long-term success.
Scaling Ocean awareness with Ocean and 10% for the Ocean
Oceans remain significantly underfunded in global philanthropy, receiving less than 0.5% of total funding despite their central role in planetary health.
Through our partnership with 10% for the Ocean, we have helped address this gap by supporting the production and global promotion of David Attenborough’s documentary Ocean.
The impact has been substantial:
- Screened in over 1,700 cinemas across 27 countries
- Reached key audiences including policymakers, investors and business leaders through targeted private screenings
- Generated widespread awareness of critical issues such as overfishing and bottom trawling
Crucially, the film has not only raised awareness but also contributed to policy momentum, helping bring ocean health further into mainstream decision-making.
Alongside this, funding has supported the Community of Arran Seabed Trust (COAST), enabling:
- Protection and management of 280 km² of marine habitat
- Training for local communities in habitat monitoring and conservation
Together, these efforts demonstrate how strategic funding can amplify both global awareness and local conservation action.
Expanding energy access with Acumen’s Hardest to Reach initiative
Energy access remains one of the defining challenges of climate justice. Through Acumen’s Hardest to Reach (H2R) initiative, we are supporting the expansion of off-grid solar solutions in some of the least electrified regions of sub-Saharan Africa.
In 2025 alone, the programme achieved:
- 280,000 people gaining access to clean energy for the first time
- Investment across multiple countries, including fragile and underserved markets
- Deployment of blended finance and technical assistance to strengthen local businesses
By combining capital with operational support, the initiative helps build sustainable energy ecosystems, supporting economic resilience while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
This work highlights the importance of reaching communities that traditional financing often overlooks, ensuring that the transition to a low-carbon economy is both inclusive and equitable.
Scaling impact where it matters most
The first year of our charitable partnership demonstrates what can be achieved when capital is deployed with clear intent:
- Restoring degraded ecosystems and protecting biodiversity
- Elevating ocean conservation to the global stage
- Expanding access to clean energy in underserved communities
These outcomes are directly enabled by clients invested in our sustainable funds, reinforcing the connection between investment and impact.
For our clients, this represents an opportunity not only to invest sustainably, but to contribute to real, tangible change – supporting projects that protect natural capital, strengthen communities, and drive progress towards a more resilient and equitable future.
