Wellbeing is on our agenda

City Mental Health Alliance Hong Kong (CMHK): Schroders is a member of the Hong Kong chapter of this UK-based alliance of businesses that support mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.

Regional work-life coaching programme: Offers our staff across Asia the personal touch of face-to-face wellbeing support alongside the convenience of online and app-based assistance.

Mental health first-aid: A group of volunteer certified mental health first-aiders at our Hong Kong office are available to listen and offer support to colleagues.

Our Social & Recreation Club, and People & Culture Team regularly host staff activities to enable our people to unwind and recharge, and cultivate a sense of community.

Supporting diversity and inclusion in Hong Kong

As part of our Inclusion and Diversity strategy, Schroders is a signatory of the Racial Diversity & Inclusion Charter For Employers organised by the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) in Hong Kong.

In Hong Kong, ethnic minority youths are an important part of our future workforce. To enable fair access to career and education opportunities, we have supported the EMbRACE - EMerging Talent Internship Project since 2021. Organised by the Zubin Foundation in partnership with the EOC, the programme offers career exposure for ethnic minority tertiary students. We also partner with CareER, a Hong Kong NGO dedicated to enabling career development for specially-abled people who are tertiary educated, to hire student trainees.

Schroders is a member of the Hong Kong Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT+) Interbank Forum, which brings together LGBT+ members of the financial industry in Hong Kong and their allies.

Going greener at our office

Purchase of renewable energy certificates: Since 2019, we have been purchasing renewable electricity certificates for our office electricity consumption. Buying renewable electricity certificates guarantees that the electricity we consume from the grid is generated from renewable sources.

ISO 14001: Since 2021, we have been certified to the ISO 14001 Environment Management System for our ability to address on-site environmental risks at the office.

Electric company cars: Globally, we have committed to transition our company car fleet to hybrid or fully electric by 2025. Hong Kong was one of the first offices to switch to using an electric vehicle to support us in meeting this target.

Support for the Hong Kong community

Schroders partners with charities that promote equality. In Hong Kong, we support the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong and the Music Children Foundation. Through these charity initiatives, we encourage employee donations, fundraising and volunteering.

Music Children Foundation

Since 2019, we have been partnering with the Music Children Foundation (MCF), which provides free music education to children from grassroots families in Hong Kong. The NGO’s mission is to help these children establish self-confidence, build character, and develop the ability to express themselves through music.

Our volunteers assist in planning and coordination at the MCF Summer Camp and the organisation’s annual concert and "New Journey" concert.

Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong

Since 2020, Schroders Hong Kong has been a corporate partner to the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong (YMCA) and its “Y-Care CSR Scheme”. The scheme aims to promote eco-friendly practices with corporates in following ESG principles as a way to give back to the community and to create social value through different corporate volunteer programmes.

We have been partnering with the NGO to show care and support to the elderly in need, and to low-income families and children through various outreach activities. Through these efforts, we address the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1 (“No poverty”) and 2 (“Zero hunger”).

Schroders is honoured to have received the Y-Care Extraordinary (Social) Achievement Award and the Y-Care Perfect Partner Award through our participation in the “Y-Care CSR Scheme”.
