We are pleased to launch updated Engagement Blueprints for 2025, for both listed assets and private markets. The blueprints outline our commitment to using active ownership to influence our investments to meet our clients’ goals. We also recently published our 2024 Active Ownership report, which highlights our engagement, voting and integration activities throughout the year.
These documents reflect the evolving landscape of sustainability issues across asset classes, ensuring our approaches remain relevant as we seek to enhance the value we create for our clients.
You can read the full Blueprints here:

Key updates in the listed assets 2025 blueprint
- How we identify material issues: We seek to focus our engagement on what we consider to be the most material sustainability threats and opportunities to our investments. These are areas which could have a significant impact, both negative and positive, on a company’s long-term value. The 2025 blueprint explains how we identify material sustainability issues using both bottom-up and top-down analysis. We also continuously seek to deepen our research around the financial materiality of sustainability-related engagement themes, which are reflected in our updates to the theme sections within the document.
- Engaging with policymakers: The 2025 blueprint contains more information on how we engage with policymakers on the role of governments in accelerating action on climate change and nature loss.
- How we adapt our approach across asset classes: We seek to represent both equity and bond investments during our engagements with companies, often with both equity and credit analysts partnering on engagements where possible. This allows us to fully leverage our position as an investor. The 2025 blueprint explains how we approach the nuances between asset classes in public markets, including sovereign issuers.
- Cross-cutting engagement themes: We recognise that some topics cut across our six priority engagement themes: climate change, natural capital and biodiversity, human rights, human capital management, diversity and inclusion, and corporate governance. In this year’s blueprint, we identify four such topics: Just Transition, artificial intelligence, health, and inequality, and summarise how we approach them within our priority themes.
Key updates in the private markets 2025 blueprint
We published the private markets engagement blueprint for the first time in 2024, as such we have sought to keep the document largely consistent as we continue to work to drive broader market awareness of how engagement works for private markets. As we continue to embed our approach across the Schroders Capital platform, we have sought to clarify in the updated document example objectives by engagement theme, providing further clarity to stakeholders on what change we are seeking to achieve with investees.
Both Blueprints are available below:
