Engaging with policymakers

We aim to use our expertise and insights to support a positive regulatory and policy environment, in the interests of our clients.

Legislation and regulation play an important part in ensuring effective and efficient markets.

As a steward of our clients’ assets, we have a responsibility to actively engage legislators, regulators, trade associations, consumer organisations and civil society on important issues that impact our clients’ long-term investment returns.

Public consultations

We provide responses to public consultations initiated by public- and private-sector bodies on a range of topics. We aim to represent the interests of investors and our sector to inform the policy-making process.

Memberships

These are some of the trade associations we are members of, we work mostly with The IA and EFAMA and are members of most national associations in the countries we have offices. Our active involvement is led by individuals across the business and the public policy team coordinates this activity and tracks our participation.

Our Public Policy Principles

__________

Our public policy engagement is underpinned by ethical behaviour, integrity and transparency. In this context, we comply with legal and regulatory obligations. We are registered under the EU Transparency Register and adhere to the EU Transparency Register’s Code of Conduct. While engagement includes regulators, our public policy exchanges are kept separate from day-to-day supervisory contacts.

__________

We do not make political contributions, nor do we employ the services of serving politicians for lobbying purposes. We do not fund All Party Groups in the UK or similar elsewhere (including the European Parliament). Any political activity by employees must be kept separate from duties as an employee. We make use of public affairs agencies but they do not make representations on our behalf.

We are the Public Policy Team

We coordinate public policy work from London and Brussels. The team works closely with colleagues across the business around the world, making best use of their knowledge, network and expertise in local markets.
