Sustainability governance

We believe effective governance is vital for ensuring transparency, accountability and responsible decision-making.

Sustainability governance snapshot

Strong governance guides how we embed sustainability across our business. Sustainability is integrated across our wider governance structure. It is supported by Group‑wide and business‑level policies and guidance that address stakeholder needs and promote consistent, responsible decision making across the organisation.

Board oversight

Our Board is responsible for overseeing sustainability-related matters and ensuring sustainability is embedded with our strategy and risk management frameworks. Each year, the Board receives a sustainability briefing that covers issues such as regulatory changes, emerging areas of client interest and progress against our science-based targets. The Board exercises its oversight through direct engagement, the work of its Committees and by delegating day‑to‑day responsibilities to the Group Chief Executive.

Committee oversight

Our key sustainability management committee is the Group Sustainability and Impact (GSI) Committee, chaired by our Group Chief Executive. The GSI Committee reviews and recommends our global sustainability and impact strategy, including key initiatives, commitments and policies, for approval. It also monitors progress against our core sustainability commitments and targets, including those related to climate, biodiversity and human rights.

Supporting charitable causes

Our Global Charity Committee oversees our charitable giving and community engagement and reports to the GSI Committee. Regional committees, employee resource groups and local champions help mobilise and coordinate activities across our global workforce, supporting collective action and positive local impact.
