Ian King
Independent non-executive Director
Ian was appointed as an independent non-executive Director in January 2017.
Ian was Chief Executive of BAE Systems plc from 2008 to 2017, having been originally appointed to the BAE board as Chief Operating Officer, UK and Rest of the World. Prior to this, he was Chief Executive of Alenia Marconi Systems. Ian also served as a non-executive Director and Senior Independent Director of Rotork plc until June 2014. In December 2025, Ian was awarded a CBE in the King’s New Year Honours List for services to the transport and defence sectors.
Ian brings strong global leadership expertise, gained through senior roles in major multinational companies and in capital markets as both an executive and non-executive director.
External appointments: Senior Adviser to the board of Gleacher Shacklock LLP, Chairman of Senior plc, Director of High Speed Two (HS2) Limited and lead non-executive Director for the Department for Transport.
Committee membership: Nomination and Governance Committee and Remuneration Committee.
