At Schroders, we believe that working with peers and policymakers on sustainability issues is an important activity. As part of our wider public policy engagement, we regularly respond to public consultations both directly and working with investor groups, contributing to responses submitted by industry bodies such as the Investment Association and European Fund and Asset Management Association (EFAMA). Where relevant, we flag consultations to which we have contributed or plan to contribute directly.
For the second quarter of 2025, key updates in the UK involved the publication of new consulations including drafts of the UK Sustainability Reporting Standards, which are the proposed UK versions of the International Sustainability Standard Board's new standards.
In the EU, ESMA launched its second consultation on draft Regulatory and Implementing Technical Standards for the EU Green Bond Regulation. As part of the EU's efforts to streamline legislation, the European Council and the European Parliament also reached agreement on the proposed simplification of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).
In the US, President Trump signed four executive orders aiming to quadruple US nuclear capacity to 400GW by 2050.
